ENGLEWOOD, Colo. (Sept. 14, 2010) - Prior to its Saturday debut at 6 p.m. MST with a Fresno State at Utah State football showdown, an additional six television affiliates are confirmed for the WAC Sports Network.
A total of 24 affiliates in 16 markets now comprise the WAC Sports Network (WSN). The Western Athletic Conference and its multimedia rights partner Learfield Sports announced the launch of the Network last month, and since have announced three initial games and a seven-member football broadcast team.
The WSN's additional coverage is comprised of affiliates in San Francisco, Salt Lake City, New Orleans, St. George, UT and Comcast Hometown Channel, which has significant penetration into California.
Leading WSN as football play-by-play announcers will be Dave Harbison and Guy Haberman, with Dick Tomey and Joe Glenn serving as color commentators. Sideline reporters are Lauren Mickler and Jenny Cavnar, with Ralph Gaston as color and sideline.
The WSN will allow for WAC football and basketball games to be produced and distributed to media outlets in the respective school markets. Three initial football games are slated for broadcast, while additional games will be released pending ESPN national broadcast selections.
Crew assignments and games scheduled for WSN broadcast are:
Fresno State at Utah State (Sept. 18 at 6 p.m. MST) - Harbison, Tomey, Mickler
Idaho at Western Michigan (Oct. 2 at noon MST) - Harbison, Gaston, Cavnar
Boise State at New Mexico State (Oct. 2 at 6 p.m. MST) - Haberman, Tomey, Mickler
Learfield Sports' locally based WAC Sports Properties team has oversight of WSN through Learfield Sports' extensive conference partnership. The company represents the WAC, as well as seven member schools: Boise State, Fresno State, Idaho, Louisiana Tech, Nevada, San Jose State and Utah State.
