New Mexico State's Kim Oguh, Utah State's Amanda Nielson and Hawai`i's Jamie Houston all earned All-American honors from the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) when the all-American teams were announced, Wednesday, Dec. 12. All three were named to the honorable mention team.

Complete All-American List

This was the third-straight year Oguh (El Paso, Hanks HS) earned all-American honors and is the first Aggie to earn that honor three consecutive seasons. Oguh, a 2007 first team All-WAC selection, finished the year with 376 kills (3.33/g), and a team leading 141 total blocks (1.25/g).  She was fourth in the conference in hitting percentage with a .325 hitting percentage.  Oguh also had 36 service aces on the year.  Head coach Mike Jordan was pleased to work with a student-athlete like Oguh and is proud of all her accomplishments.

Nielson, who earned first-team AVCA all-region honors last week, joins former Aggie greats Zuzana Cernianska (2002-05) and Erin Cartwright-Davis (2001-03) as the only AVCA All-American's in Utah State history as all three players earned honorable mention honors.

Overall, Nielson becomes the 10th player in Utah State history to earn All-America honors along with Annette Cottle (1976, 1977, 1978, 1979), Lucia Chudy (1978, 1979), Sandy Lynn (1978), Elaine Roque (1979), Jo Ellen Vrazel (1980), Lauren Goebel (1980, 1981), Karolyn Kirby (1980, 1981), Cartwright-Davis (2003) and Cernianska (2005).

Houston had another productive season for Hawai`i, hitting .260 with 5.51 kills, 2.56 digs and 0.77 blocks per game on the season. Her kill per game average ranks second in the nation.
