DENVER – New Mexico State’s Jahmar Young has been named the Verizon Wireless Western Athletic Conference Men’s Basketball Player of the Week for the week of Feb. 1-7. The honor marks the third career WAC Player of the Week award for Young.
Young, a junior guard from Baltimore, Md. (W.E.B. Dubois HS), led New Mexico State to a 94-82 win over San Jose State last week. Young scored a team-high 25 points on 8-of-13 shooting from the field, including a 4-of-6 mark from three-point range. Young also connected on 5-of-5 shots from the free throw line. Additionally, he dished out five assists, pulled down three rebounds and recorded a blocked shot.
