Utah State 76, Nevada 65

LOGAN, Utah -- Tai Wesley scored 19 points and grabbed nine rebounds as Utah State defeated Nevada 76-65 on Saturday night.

Pooh Williams had 16 for USU (18-6, 8-2 Western Athletic Conference), while Brady Jardine added 13 and Jared Quayle 12.

Luke Babbitt led Nevada (13-9, 5-4 WAC) with 20 points and nine rebounds. Armon Johnson had 19 and Joey Shaw 14.

USU took a four-point halftime lead and extended to 58-44 with 8:10 to play after Wesley scored four consecutive inside shots and Jardine followed up two missed shots for rebound buckets. Nevada got as close as 69-62 after Shaw hit a 3-point shot, but could not slow USU in the closing minutes.

USU grabbed 21 offensive rebounds in the game, 12 in the second half, while the Wolf Pack only had six offensive boards in the second half. USU also managed the ball well, with 18 assists and only four turnovers.



New Mexico State 94, San Jose State 82

LAS CRUCES, N.M. -- New Mexico State's backcourt of Jahmar Young and Jonathan Gibson combined for 45 points and 10 assists Saturday as the Aggies defeated San Jose State 94-82.

Young had 25 points and Gibson 20 while each had five assists for New Mexico State (14-8, 7-2 Western Athletic). Troy Gillenwater added 19 and 11 rebounds, and Hamidu Rahman had 11 points and 13 rebounds.

Robert Owens became the third player in San Jose State history with seven 3-pointers in a game, finishing with 29 points. Adrian Oliver added 22 for the Spartans (12-11, 5-6), and Chris Oakes had 14 points and 10 rebounds.

Both teams shot well from 3-point range. New Mexico State hit 10 of 20 from beyond the arc, while San Jose State was 11 for 23.

The Aggies' biggest advantage came at the free-throw line, where they hit 18 of 24 shots compared to 9 of 14 for the Spartans.



Idaho 79, Boise State 55

Box Score

BOISE, Idaho -- Luciano de Souza tied a career high with 16 points and Kashif Watson added 12 as Idaho cruised to a 79-55 victory over in-state rival Boise State on Saturday night.

The Vandals (11-11, 3-7 Western Athletic) built a big lead early, leading by as many as 26 points in the final minute of the first half and never looked back in beating the Broncos for the second straight year in Boise.

The win also avenged a 77-66 overtime loss to the Broncos (11-12, 2-8) in Moscow two weeks ago.

All of de Souza's points came in the first half as the sophomore hit four 3-pointers during a seven-minute span. The Vandals went on a 25-3 run during that span.

Idaho shot 56 percent from the floor and made 50 percent of their 3-pointers.

The Broncos were led by Daequon Montreal, who scored 16 points. Boise State shot 45 percent from the floor but had 19 turnovers and made just 4-14 from behind the 3-point line.




Fresno State 61, Hawai‘i 51

Box Score

HONOLULU (AP)-- Mike Ladd scored 18 points and Greg Smith added 16 to lead Fresno State to a 61-51 win over Hawaii on Saturday night.

Sylvester Seay had 13 points and seven rebounds while Steven Shepp added 11 points and seven assists for the Bulldogs (12-12, 5-5 Western Athletic Conference).

Roderick Flemings scored 21 points for the Rainbow Warriors (9-14, 2-8), who lost their fifth straight.

Fresno State hit eight 3-pointers and was 15 of 18 from the free-throw line.

The Bulldogs took the lead for good with 11:52 to play on a pair of free throws by Ladd that made it 36-35. Hawaii pulled within 42-41 after Adhar Mayen's free throws with 8:45 left, but Fresno State scored the next six points and led by at least four the rest of the way.

The Bulldogs made their final eight free throws to seal it the victory.
