BIRMINGHAM, Ala.--Three WAC baseball players have been named to the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association Pro-Line Athletic Preseason All-America team. Louisiana Tech's Devon Dageford and New Mexico State's Mike Sodders each earned first team honors, while Fresno State's Dusty Robinson was named to the third team.
Dageford, a senior outfielder from Beatrice, Neb., was a first team all-WAC selection and a member of the WAC's all-tournament team in 2009. Dageford shattered Tech's single-season home run and total bases records with 23 and 168, respectively in 2009. He concluded his first season in the WAC by leading the league in slugging percentage (.862) and placing second in home runs (23) during all games.
Sodders, a senior infielder from Moreno Valley, Calif., earned second team all-WAC honors in 2009. He also earned a spot on the all-tournament team at the WAC tournament last season. He is one of just 23 Aggie players that have ever hit at least .400 in a single season. Sodders led New Mexico State and the WAC with a .422 batting average last season.
Robinson, a sophomore outfielder from Bakersfield, Calif., was a 2009 all-WAC first team honoree. He also earned 2009 Lousville Slugger Freshman All-America honors last season. He hit .319 with 15 home runs, 12 doubles and 45 RBIs during his freshman campaign. He appeared in 60 games starting 52 in left field for the Bulldogs. The outfielder is the first Bulldogs to earn freshman All-American honors since 2005, when Beau Mills was named a Louisville Slugger Freshman All-American.
