Fresno State to Face Georgetown in NCAA Tournament

The Fresno State women's basketball team will make its fifth-straight NCAA Tournament appearance when the 12th-seeded Bulldogs take on No. 5-seed Georgetown in the first round of the Des Moines Regional on Sunday at Carmichael Arena in Chapel Hill, N.C.

The Bulldogs (28-5) are making their fifth appearance in the NCAA Tournament. Fresno State is coming off its WAC Tournament title win, an 89-61 victory over Louisiana Tech Saturday in Las Vegas. The Bulldogs swept the WAC titles after posting a 15-1 conference mark in regular-season play.

The Bulldogs are led by WAC Tournament MVP Ki-Ki Moore, who averages 16.6 points, 7.2 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 2.9 steals. Fresno State ranks in the top 50 nationally in 11 statistical categories, including third in three-pointers per game (9.8), fourth in turnover margin (7.5) and ninth in scoring (75.5).

Georgetown is led by Sugar Rodgers, who averages 18.9 points and 5.5 rebounds per game. The Hoyas fell in the quarterfinals of the BIG EAST Tournament and earned an at-large berth with a 22-8 record.

The winner of the Fresno State-Georgetown game will play the winner of the No. 4 Georgia Tech/No. 13 Sacred Heart game on Tuesday. Georgia Tech earned an at-large berth out of the ACC with a 24-8 record, while Sacred Heart was the automatic qualifier out of the Northeast Conference with a 25-7 mark.
