WAC Women’s Basketball Preseason Media Poll, All-WAC Teams Announced
DENVER – The Western Athletic Conference women’s basketball media have selected Utah State as the preseason favorite to win the conference crown during the 2012-13 season, and Utah State senior guard Devyn Christensen has been selected as the WAC Preseason Player of the Year.

The Aggies received eight first-place votes, earning 165 points. Louisiana Tech was picked to finish second with 136 points and four first-place votes, just ahead of Denver with 128 points and one first-place vote. Seattle U was picked to finish fourth with 106 points and two first-place votes, followed by Texas State with 101 points and one first-place vote. Idaho was picked to finish in sixth place with 83 points, followed by San Jose State in seventh with 64 points. UTSA (56), New Mexico State (54) and UT Arlington round out the poll. 

Reigning first team All-WAC honoree Christensen was voted Preseason Player of the Year and is the on the preseason All-WAC first team. Joining her on the first team are Alyssa Charlston of Idaho, Louisiana Tech’s Whitney Frazier, Diamond Ford of Texas State and Seattle U’s Kacie Sowell.

The Preseason All-WAC second team is comprised of San Jose State’s Ta’Rea Cunnigan, Stefanie Gilbreath of New Mexico State, Idaho’s Krissy Karr, Kelia Shelton of Louisiana Tech and Denver’s Emiko Smith.
